    Unit Two: Fundamental Concepts

    A deficiency story is a story or belief that tells us we are deficient in some way. A 'core' deficiency story is a deep-seated root story or belief that drives many other deficiency stories. When you use the techniques, you may find a deficiency story, which then leads you to a deficiency story under that. The underlying deficiency stories are the core deficiency stories. When you get to a deficiency story that leads you to nowhere else, that story could be your core deficiency story.

    Examples of core deficiency stories are I'm unloveable, I'm not good enough, I'm not safe or there's something wrong with me.

    Examples of deficiency stories are I'm disgusting, I'm bad, I'm an idiot, I'm a loser, I'm stupid, I'm fucked, I'm weak and I'm a failure.

    We all have deficiency stories! You are not alone. xx

    Journal some potential deficiency stories or negative core beliefs you know you have about yourself or your life.

    The Velcro Effect

    You can narrow all of your problems down to three things: words, pictures and body sensations. Words and pictures create the mental thoughts and the sensations are in the body. When you can rest with (be with) the words, pictures and body sensations, you can process any trigger and feel free of your problem.

    Natural Rest Audio Guides

    Aim to practice natural rest at least once per day (using the audio guides provided or without).
